In 2008, I launched a homecare agency in which I matched caregivers to seniors who needed help at home with daily personal care or sometimes, simply companionship. During the operation of that business, several of my homecare clients reached a point where they could no longer live safely in their homes. Their needs for care increased and assisted living or dementia care became necessary.

In an effort to help my clients and their families find the right place to provide assisted living services, it quickly became apparent that the options are many and very overwhelming! I began to research the market and spent the following months visiting local assisted living communities, including those that provide dementia and Alzheimer’s care. I also met with independent living and retirement communities, continuing care communities and home care providers. As a result of my research, I was able to evaluate the options available and make knowledgeable senior living recommendations to clients based on location, staffing, care and services provided, budget, food quality, atmosphere, activities, etc.
